Sarah started taking photos as a young teenager gifted their first DSLR camera from their Grandfather who was also an avid photographer himself. Since then that spark of creativity has fanned and flamed into years of dabbling in and out of the practice. Early works were reblogged on tumblr and after that, they took every photography course they could enroll in at community college. As a newlywed Sarah slipped their toes into the industry by capturing military weddings, engagements, and newborns in the hospital while their husband was stationed at a naval submarine base in Georgia. After the military relocated them to Seattle, Sarah became infatuated with the forest and mushrooms found on their explorations.
However Sarah realized something different about them in 2017 while living in Washington state. They were able to put their feelings and inner world into two words: nonbinary + autistic.
They experienced sensations, thoughts, feelings, attraction, sounds, and tastes entirely different than neurotypical individuals. Not only that but they also had comorbid chronic illnesses such as Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome. This explains why Sarah never felt like they fit in anywhere, despite living all over the country. Since this discovery, they have ensured being outspoken about neurodiversity, gender fluidity, and invisible illnesses an important focus in their life.
